Despite being a global force for unity and positive social change, the world of sports continues to grapple with persistent human rights issues, including sexism, racism, and ableism. This Thursday, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) will host a powerful virtual panel The Matchup Between Human Rights and Sports: how both can win in today’s landscape, that will bring together leading voices from across Canada to confront these challenges head‐on. 

This free virtual event aims to highlight the obstacles marginalized communities face and explore actionable solutions to ensure sport is inclusive, accessible, and truly reflective of the human rights values it often promotes.

Panel members include:

• Amreen Kadwa, founder and executive director of Hijabi Ballers
• Bryan Heal, social impact research lead at Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment
• Jeff Adams, former paralympian, human rights and law expert

The panel will be moderated by Wendy MacGregor, executive director of Athlete Zone.
Throughout this virtual conversation, participants will have an opportunity to comment and ask questions.

The Matchup Between Human Rights and Sports is presented proudly in partnership with the annual Simces & Rabkin Family Dialogue on Human Rights and Equitas — International Centre for Human Rights Education.
