The Museum, its builders and designers will receive two CISC Ontario Steel Design Awards of Excellence in the "projects constructed outside of Ontario" category. More than 5,400 tonnes of steel was used in building the CMHR, the same weight as 27 train locomotives.

CMHR president and CEO Stuart Murray, PCL Constructors project manager Rob Duerksen, and Smith Carter Architects and Engineers CEO Scott Stirton will be in attendance to accept the awards. PCL is the general contractor for the Museum project and Smith Carter is the executive architect. Smith Carter architect Grant Van Iderstine will also receive an award for his innovative structural design work on the CMHR.

The event will celebrate the Museum's unique role as a national hub for human rights education and highlight the remarkable collaboration between the general contractor, designers, consultants and sub‐trades, whose contributions brought this world‐class project to life. The CISC is the voice for the Canadian steel construction industry.
